"Thank you so much for helping Debs with Eve's birth. (2nd baby born naturally after a C-section with the first baby (3 years previously) It made such a big difference.
From my point of view, having you there to support Debs left me feeling a lot more relaxed about the whole thing. I liked knowing someone was there who knows what to do and when, without being part of the medical establishment. I liked knowing that if the medical staff tried to get too interventionist for our liking, there'd be someone else there to ease the discussion. It was great having you there to deal with the hassle, if needed. And it was! It left me feeling much freer to be there for Debs. I really felt Debs was in capable hands, helping her relax and get in touch with her body, and giving her confidence that she really could do this. I would recommend to any man to get you involved.
From a male point of view it's just great to have someone there who really understands what's going on for a woman, and is totally supportive. I think I was able to give much more than if I'd been there on my own."

I just wanted to write a quick note to say an enormous Thank you for being there at the birth of Alexander. I don’t know if I would have been able to stay for the whole of the labour if you had not been there. You were so calm and reassuring and helpful in dealing with everything that happened. I just watched what you did and copied you …and it worked. I did not need to leave the room during the final stages and I am so proud I was able to support my wife when she most needed me."

There is growing evidence that one-to-one support from another woman during pregnancy and labour is hugely beneficial. Woman often have shorter labours, decreased chances of a caesarean, less need for pain medication and greater satisfaction with their births. A Birthcompanion’s role is to offer help and support with breathing, positions ,relaxation or what ever it is the woman needs. Her presence can be encouraging for the partner/father and enable him to participate at the level he is comfortable with.
Over many years I have been working with couples who had babies at home or in hospital giving birth naturally or needing a caesarean section.
My services include at least 2 pre-natal sessions , the labour and 2 postnatal visits.
The cost is £500. Additional pre or postnatal meetings can be booked.
