I originally come from Denmark . I have lived here in the U.K. for 23 years now and am slowly getting closer to being ½ English. All my life I have worked with children and found that I quite early on was much more interested in a holistic and natural approach to pregnancy, childbirth and parenting, rather than the conventional way.
In Denmark I trained ( 3 years ) and worked as a Waldorf Nursery School teacher. In that time I also ended up as a special needs teacher and had extensive experience working with psychologist and social workers.
Shortly after I arrived in England I set up a small Nursery school in Tunbridge Wells with a group of parents and ran this for 4 years whilst I undertook further training as an Active Birth Teacher ( 3 years ) and a Breathwork Therapist ( 5 year study with Binnie A Dansby. Source Process and Breathwork)
In 1992 I set up Birthwise and I have since then concentrated on teaching general Hatha Yoga, Pregnancy Yoga and Mother and Baby Yoga classes, organised Birth preparation workshops and partners evenings as well as offered my services as a Birth consultant and a Doula/ Birthcompanion.
Along the way I undertook further training with Francoise Freedman and Sally Lomas ( Birthlight Perinatal yoga, baby and toddler yoga ) and I have recently become a Birthlight tutor.
I am also a fully trained British Wheel of Yoga teacher ( 4 year training ) and have completed extra diploma courses and modules in Yoga for Children and Teenagers and Meditation.
To supplement my continuos Birthsupport training with Binnie A Dansby ( Esctatic Birth ) I did some extensive study with Sharon Ledbitter (Birth and Bonding International ) , Michel Odent and various other Birth experts like Sheila Kitzinger ( Birthcrisis ) , Penny Simkin, Andrea Robertson ( Associates in Childbirth Education) , Susanna Yates ( Shiatsu skills in Midwifery ) and many more. I am a member of Doula UK
For over 25 year I have been member of several International organisation for pre-and perinatal psychology ( USA, France and Germany ) and have attended numerous conferences and study weeks.
From 1998 – 2004 I was one of the founding members and the co-ordinator for a U.K. based Organisation for Prenatal Education.
Additionally to running ‘ Birthwise ‘ I have a small practice in Wadhurst where I offer Breathwork therapy, counselling, healing and one-to-one yoga sessions.
I have over many years successfully run day and week-end workshops on various self-development topics: Discovering the Inner Child, Developing intuition, Being Woman and Creative Pregnancy and Birth Art.
And when there is time for anything else……
I love looking after my family….my lovely husband, my teenage daughter and the cats , rabbits, the garden and so on !
I love going for long country walks or spending time by the sea, read a good book or gather friends around the dinner table.
